Vaccines & Parasite Control

Vaccines

At Hero Pet Animal Hospital, we believe in protecting your pets from the various illnesses that they could contract from other animals. By keeping your pets up-to-date on all of their vaccinations, you can rest assured that they will be safe from communicable diseases. We offer a large variety of vaccinations for both cats and dogs.

We also believe in not over vaccinating your pet, which is why we practice the 3-year protocol for both cats and dogs. This applies to both the distemper and rabies vaccinations. Your pet will be fully protected for the entire 3-year span, so you don’t have to worry about their health being compromised. Also, this protocol keeps your pets safe from the ill-effects related to over-vaccination.

Please speak with any of our staff members about the vaccines that we offer at Hero Pet Animal Hospital. Contact us today to protect your pets!

Our veterinarians also administer vaccine regimens for puppies and kittens, following the recommended practices to build your new pet’s immune system. This helps your young puppy or kitten stay safe from any diseases that can spread to them and become very harmful. You can discuss the recommended vaccination schedule for your new pet with our staff on the phone or at your first visit!

Parasite Protection

Unfortunately parasites are a common problem among all pets both indoors and outdoors. There are a large variety of parasites that can affect our pets including fleas, ticks, heartworms and intestinal parasites. Because of this, we recommend monthly preventatives to rid your pet of any harmful parasites.

One of the most concerning parasites is heartworms. These parasitic worms live in your pet’s heart, lungs, and associated blood vessels. If left untreated, heartworms cause severe heart and lung disease. Signs of heartworm infection include a cough, poor appetite, fatigue, and hesitance to exercise or play.

Luckily, there are many preventative options to keep your pet from being infected with heartworms, and we offer annual testing to ensure your pet is free of this parasite. If your pet does have a heartworm infection, we have the medications and services to treat them before they suffer long-term heart or lung disease.

In addition to heartworm testing, we recommend an annual fecal sample and blood testing to make sure your pet is free of other parasites and the diseases that can come from them. If we do find an abnormal result, we can treat your pet to rid them of any parasitic infection and alleviate any related symptoms.

At Hero Pet Animal Hospital, we carry a variety of parasite preventatives in our office, and we offer regular parasitic testing and treatment. During your visit, be sure to speak with your veterinarian about what products and services would be best for you and your pet. Contact us today for all of your pet’s parasite prevention needs!
