Digital Xray & Ultrasound

Ultrasound

Ultrasound technology is incredibly beneficial in veterinary diagnostics. With ultrasound, our veterinarians can view your pet’s internal organs from the outside. A probe is placed against your pet’s skin, and it sends ultrasonic waves through the skin. These waves bounce off of the organs inside of your pet’s abdomen, creating an image on the display screen.

Luckily, this process is completely pain-free and non-invasive, meaning it does not cause lasting distress for your pet. With an ultrasound, our veterinarian can detect many issues, including ingested objects, a mass or growth, abnormal blood flow or heart function, and more. It can also be used to identify pregnancy and estimate litter sizes!

At Hero Pet Animal Hospital, we have on-site ultrasound equipment to help your pet. We can use this technology to examine the abdomen and chest from the outside. Once the images are obtained, they are analyzed by a radiology-trained veterinarian. If your pet is having a health issue, our staff has all the specialized equipment and capabilities to identify the problem and determine the best treatment strategy.

X-Ray Examinations

X-ray imaging is an assessment tool frequently used in veterinary practice. These exams help our veterinarians diagnose problems that they can’t see from the outside. From broken bones to a swallowed foreign object, x-rays are beneficial in identifying many problems with your pet.

In modern veterinary medicine, x-rays are a very safe tool for diagnosing your pet. The equipment used today is tested for safety and proven to be highly effective. X-rays are only used when necessary, and they are not harmful to your pet. Our veterinarians are dedicated to the wellness of your pet, and we use only the safest equipment and procedures!

When your pet is struggling with a health problem that we can’t see, your veterinarian may recommend x-ray examinations. These can help diagnose:

  • Broken bones
  • Fluid around internal organs (such as the heart or lungs)
  • Intestinal obstructions
  • Swallowed foreign objects
  • Bladder or kidney stones
  • Abnormalities in the soft tissue or organs

Our veterinarians are here to help! When your pet isn’t feeling well, we will do everything we can to help them get better. Contact us today to see if an x-ray is the best option for your pet!
